As the Winery’s Champion, we need to have a platform on which wineries can manage their day-to-day tasks. From our comprehensive wine club management system to our e-commerce platform, POS system, and even fulfillment services, we strive to give wineries the best end-to-end solution for their business.
About the Position
We are looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer to help drive our e-commerce platform forward. While the company head office is located in California, the e-commerce team makes its home in Vancouver, BC. With everything that’s gone on in the World the last few years, we are pleased to have a flexible working policy and have been working remotely since the beginning of the pandemic, and this is will continue until further notice. Although if you need to get away from the house, our office is located in beautiful Gastown looking over the water near Waterfront Station. We are looking for a full-stack developer. We are less concerned about specific languages and more interested in someone who can jump in to solve a problem in the front-end or figure out a pesky problem in our APIs.
Who We’re Looking For
As an intermediate developer, we’re looking for you to have at least 3 years of experience. But, the truth is, it’s less about the number of years and more about the journey you’ve had. We hope that you’ve been a part of some successful teams and understand the things that made it successful. We also expect that you’ve been on a few teams/projects that have failed, but you’ve learned from those experiences.
We don’t expect you to know everything and have solutions to every problem. We do expect you to work well with your team to come up with some great solutions. We expect you to learn from everyone around you, especially the senior members of the team who may be able to teach you a thing or two and are happy to join in for some pair programming sessions. We also expect you to have a different point of view on things and offer a different perspective on occasion. We value everyone’s input and contributions and do everything we can to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.
While our legacy codebase has its share of complexities, we expect our new projects to have 100% test coverage, so your knowledge of unit testing and testing principles is important. We also do our best to introduce 0 tech debt. We’ve all worked on a codebase with that section of code nobody wants to touch because if they break it, they won’t be able to put it back together.
Here is a list of some of the things you’ll see in our tech stack: RoR, Angular, React, Dockerized environments, Kubernetes, GraphQL and REST APIs, Kafka, and there might be some ColdFusion as well (but we are moving away from that with all of our latest work). Of course, you get bonus points for having strong knowledge in any of these, but we aren’t going to turn anyone away for missing a few. As long as you have a strong desire to learn and adapt, you’ll fit right in.
